Salivary gland infections can be a result of either bacterial or viral origin.  These painful infections can usually be successfully treated in the office with antibiotics, analgesics, and gentle dilation of the salivary duct drainage pathway.  Salivary gland tumors, however, although typically benign, cannot be treated in this fashion and need to be addressed surgically.  Dr. Price will discern between the possibilities and recommend the appropriate course to be taken.
