Neck masses occur in both children and adults.  Many of these can be treated with antibiotics and other conservative measures.  If, however, these growths do not respond to these simpler treatments, other diagnostic measures should be undertaken to attempt to accurately define the nature of the growth. It is important to know as much as possible about any neck mass prior to making any treatment plan.  Most often, it is recommended that neck masses in both children and adults be surgically removed.
